OYUNA was founded in London in 2002 by creative director Oyuna Tserendorj. Firstly, launching with a capsule homeware collection, OYUNA was born out of a desire to showcase high-quality cashmere in a modern and innovative way. At OYUNA, we believe in a home that has few but precious objects, true to the nomadic values of Mongolia.
In 2009, womenswear collection was introduced for the international, dynamic and creative woman. The concept behind is to offer a day-to-evening collection of knitwear created with progressive non-knitwear garment construction.
OYUNA has a lifelong commitment to the complex issue of cashmere sustainability. The social and environmental impacts of modern cashmere production are enormous. Most cashmere is produced in areas that are overgrazed, which causes emissions of CO2 from grassland soils, desertification and reduces animal welfare. Desertification also exacerbates economic hardship for nomadic herders and drives them into poverty and displacement.
For this reason, we have partnered with the Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA). The SFA is a non-profit international organisation that promotes global sustainability standards for cashmere in order to restore grasslands and transform the complex supply chain of cashmere, from herders to retailers.
